If you’ve got spring cleaning on your mind you’re not alone. With the sun setting later, you’re now home during daylight hours and are likely noticing all of the areas in your condo that need a little TLC.

Just because you live in a condo doesn’t mean you can skip spring cleaning all together. It’s the perfect time to make your home sparkle, regardless of size, so use this checklist as a guide to make your condo look like you’ve just moved in.

General Spring Cleaning Throughout Your Condo

  • Replace HVAC filters once all cleaning is complete. TIP: replace every other month to keep your home dust-free longer.
  • Replace light bulbs as needed, turn on/off all lights to ensure good working order.
  • Replace batteries in alarms and detectors (smoke/fire, carbon monoxide.)
  • Dust light fixtures.
  • Dust light switches and electrical outlets.
  • Dust all baseboards.
  • Dust/vacuum window sills
  • Vacuum roller blinds and curtains

Condo Kitchen

  • Clean out the refrigerator. Throw away expired perishable food and non-perishable food and spices that have expired or will expire soon.
  • Clean appliances – oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, inside and out, top and bottom.
  • Reorganize drawers and storage areas, donate old small appliances that you don’t use. Match Tupperware with lids and toss any that don’t match.
  • Clean out the junk drawer.
  • Deep clean countertops with warm soapy water and a microfiber dishtowel.
  • Take all dishes out of cupboards and dust everything down.
  • Run a cycle in the dishwasher with all dishes to keep them sparkling.
  • Donate any mismatched coffee mugs and wine glasses.
  • Dust chairs and barstools and wipe down any fabric with the appropriate cleaner or a microfiber towel.
  • Dust and clean decor (figurines, faux plants, tops of pictures, etc.)
  • Restock light bulbs and filters for the next time they go out or need to be changed.
  • Clean baseboards with a fabric dryer sheet.
  • Clean the floors. Sweep and mop them very well. Deep clean the grout. If you have rugs, clean them in an outdoor space, if possible.

Spring Cleaning Condo Kitchen

Home Office

  • Organize your work and office supplies and put them in their proper places.
  • Dust flat surfaces – desk, storage drawers, window sills, etc.
  • Clean laptop screen and keyboards
  • Clean out laptop bag.
  • Dust/clean baseboards.
  • Clean the floors.

Bedrooms

  • Organize your clothing and storage – dresser drawers, night stands, shoe racks, etc.
  • Donate old clothes to a local shelter or charity.
  • Put winter clothes and boots into storage for the season. Bring out Spring and Summer clothes – steam them and hang/fold in proper places.
  • Dust surfaces, window sills, trim, light switches, and light fixtures.
  • Dust furniture and decor.
  • Clean soft furnishings – covers/duvets, pillows, pillow covers, sheets, throw blankets, bedding, etc.
  • Flip and/or rotate your mattresses.
  • Dust/clean baseboards.
  • Clean the floors – sweep, mop, vacuum or steam clean depending on your flooring.

Bathrooms

  • Throw away empty products canisters and bottles.
  • Clean out drawers and cabinets.
  • Organize cabinets and drawers.
  • Dust surfaces and decor (cabinets, light switches, outlets, trim, etc.)
  • Clean mirror
  • Clean the sink, faucet, cabinet surfaces, and backsplash.
  • Clean the toilet, inside and out.
  • Clean the tub, shower walls, faucet, and showerheads.
  • Deep clean tile grout and reseal or caulk any areas that need it.
  • Clean linen shower curtains, bath mats, rugs, and towels.
  • Clean baseboards.
  • Clean the floor.

Spring Cleaning Condo Bathroom

Storage Locker

  • Spring is a great time to clean out your storage locker. Take all items out and donate anything that’s gone unused for over a year. Donate old clothes. Toss old broken items.
  • Dust off storage bins.
  • Label new additions to the locker.

Laundry

  • Clean the inside of your washing machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions or by running a hot water cycle with nothing inside. Clean the dryer according to manufacturer’s instructions, as well.
  • Clean the tops of the washer and dryer that collects dust.
  • Clean inside the washing machine in the areas where you pour detergent, softeners and bleach.
  • Clean the dryer vent with a dryer vent cleaning kit.
  • Sweep/Vacuum or clean the floor, as necessary. Make sure to get around, behind, and under appliances, if you are able.

Spring Cleaning Your Balcony

  • Sweep patio floor
  • Clean windows inside and out
  • Vacuum door tracks
  • Clean railings and glass
  • Clean patio chairs and table

Spring Cleaning Condo Balcony

Spring is also a great time to do a little spring cleaning on your car. Get an oil change, check the tire pressure, get a deep cleaning inside and out. Also check your emergency kit, lights, insurance and registration to ensure they’re all in the right places.

Working your way through this list may seem overwhelming, but it’s perfect for a rainy weekend in April. You could even spread it out over two weekends, and in the end, you’ll have a sparkling shiny condo ready for guests throughout the spring and summer months.
