Riverside Neighbourhood with Streetcar

Guides

There are many reasons to love living in the Riverside neighbourhood in Toronto – it’s one of our favourite places in the city to eat, explore, live and even invest in real estate. This week on the blog, we wanted to showcase what we love about Riverside and encourage you to think differently about this little 10-block stretch along Queen Street East.

What’s Not to Love About Living in Riverside Toronto!

Riverside is home to many historic sites, over 4 acres of parkland, The Broadview Hotel, The Opera House, 2 community centres, the famous Degrassi St, 2 brewpubs and Toronto’s first urban cider house, vibrant public art installations, festivals, walking tours, schools, over 100 local businesses including original fashion creations, eclectic home design and décor, and plenty of award-winning restaurants featuring award-winning chefs. There is just too much to highlight, but here are a few of our best picks.

Some of the Best Restaurants in Toronto are in Riverside!

There are so many amazing restaurants to choose from in Riverside – in fact, the area is known for its foodies, so if you’re looking to impress your out-of-town guests, take them here – you (and they!) won’t be disappointed.

When it came time to renew the ten-year lease on the space that Lil’ Baci called home, it was time for an update complete with the incorporation of rotating house pasta and burrata specials that Frankie’s Italian now features. Looking for a great brunch spot – book here and make that reservation early. Oh, and don’t forget to order the pasta carbonara with a poached egg – get one for the table and share, just to say you did.

Cocktail & Bar Crawl

Saturday nights should be spent in Riverside doing your own little cocktail and beer crawl. Home to some of the nicest bars in Toronto, trust an oldie but a goodie, and still a staple in the area is Prohibition Social House – it’s one of our top spots each and every time we’re doing showings in the area. Friendly bartenders, fresh pints and we can’t go on without mentioning the new wings on the menu or the Mac & Cheese.

We can’t talk about Riverside watering holes and bars without mentioning The Comrade – a longstanding staple in the neighbourhood, The Comrade has been decorated top to bottom with all manner of taxidermy. This includes gigantic heads with enormous antlers and birds with wings spread as if in flight.

Bookshelves, rustic wooden seating, and exposed brick complete the moody, hip picture and the specialty cocktails will not disappoint. We promise.

In With The Old. In With The New

Riverside is an area rich with historic sites, and some that are newly renovated to bring an added vibrancy to the streets. Built in 1893, the building that sits at the corner of Broadview and Queen East was originally a hall with retail and office space. After many iterations over the years, now sits the Broadview Hotel – a major destination for dining, drinks, and tourism.

Biblio Lofts is a brand new project coming to the Riverside neighbourhood and many people have their eye on this gorgeous development. All of the Biblio lofts have been designed with an emphasis on the life you’ll lead within their walls. Inside your suite you’ll find Scavolini kitchens with premium appliances, 9-foot-tall ceilings, cool yet cozy hardwood floors, and tons of lovingly crafted, custom designer finishes from Commute Design Studio. Every suite is a homage to urban living in Toronto.

Biblio believes in putting its most friendly face forward. To that end, three premium retail storefronts and a dedicated lobby entrance greet passersby at street level. From there the building keeps things grounded with a private gym on the main floor. Moving on up, the elegant common room eagerly awaits your next party, while the intimate rooftop patio keeps watch over the bustle of Queen East below.

We have to say that not only is Riverside Square one of the best opportunities on the Eastside, but it’s also got our vote for one of the best pre-construction investments in all of Toronto. We’ve put many clients into this neighbourhood and there are still more coming. With all of the excitement of living in Riverside, this is the place you want to be.
