Living in Corktown
Corktown, located east of Old Town Toronto and just north of the Distillery District and the proposed West Don Lands project, is emerging as one of the most popular areas for pre-construction in Toronto. With its close proximity to downtown Toronto, plus amenities and services for families, it’s beginning to attract a crowd of young professionals who are keen on the central location and the somewhat more affordable living in Corktown.
Old industrial buildings have been renovated to form studio lofts, apartment-style condominiums and professional offices. Residents are not far from the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood and the very popular St. Lawrence Market, which was voted one of the best in the world a few years back by National Geographic.
Live-work studios are in fashion, breathing new life into the tired commercial buildings and storefronts. Young residents and professionals are drawn to converted condo lofts and offices that have revitalized the entire neighbourhood and invited new business. Living and working at home create a buzz as the streets and local coffee shops become the destination among residents taking a break from the workday.
