King West Toronto

Guides

King West is a neighbourhood in Toronto that we love – it’s where have called home for the past 15 years. We’ve watched this neighbourhood go from a sketchy strip of King Street on the West side, to one of the hottest spots in the city to eat, live, work and play.

It’s easy to see why many young professionals and first-time condo buyers flock to this side of the city. East versus West? We know where our loyalties lie and here are some of the reasons why.

Best Places to Eat in King West

King West restaurants are some of the best in the city and some of the most popular. If you live in Toronto, or have guests visiting, it’s likely you’re making a dinner reservation at some of our favourite spots.

Patria, a Spanish tapas restaurant from the kings of Toronto dining Hanif Harji and Charles Khabouth, (the pair who opened Weslodge) is slightly set back from the road on King West near Spadina Avenue. With many of their ingredients and wine being imported directly from Spain, you’ll find an authentic Spanish dining experience here that is unlike any other in the city.

Patria King West Toronto

One of the best restaurants to celebrate a birthday, Patria is perfect for sharing as their menu is mostly tapas – for sharing. Don’t leave without ordering the Empanadas, the Gambas al Ajillo and the Pan con Tomate. Looking for a show-stopping entrée – impress your guests by ordering the Paella Patria – and make sure to get the large. Trust.

Weekend brunch in Toronto is something not to be missed and King West has some of the best. One of our favourites is Portland Variety but be sure to snag a reservation in advance. This hot spot is overflowing with brunchers awaiting their turn to sip mimosas and cappuccinos. Don’t miss the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the Fried Egg Bravas. It’s worth the extra spin class that week.

Best Places to Drink in King West

Looking for a cocktail lounge for a little after work fun? We suggest Goldie – open Wednesday through Saturday nights. It’s a great spot for attentive bar service, especially on weekday nights when it’s not too busy. Grab a seat the bar at sip a traditional Old Fashion mixed perfectly – it’s one of our favourite cocktails in the entire city and well worth the trip over there.

Lavalle is one of the best places for drinks in Toronto, especially during the summer months. If you search their tag on Instagram, you’ll see hundreds of photos with the stunning Toronto skyline in the background and some of the most glamorous cocktails in the city.

Playing “sick” from work on a perfect weekday afternoon is best spent lounging by their pool, sipping champagne and nibbling on their Spicy Rock Shrimp Tempura and freshly shucked oysters. Just make sure to invite us.

Best Places to Workout in King West

Soul Cycle King West made its debut in Canada two years ago and by how busy their classes are, they’re not going anywhere for a while. As their flagship Canadian location, you’ll find some of the company’s best instructors at this location, hand plucked from New York and California. You’re guaranteed a solid sweat sesh, beats to please all tastes and a crowd that isn’t too hard on the eyes.
