Why We Love 12 Monteith St – Church-Yonge Corridor!

Location, Location, Location - Church-Yonge Corridor

If you’re looking for a townhouse in the middle of all the action, look no further than 12 Monteith St. It’s quietly tucked away on a private row, a stone’s throw from the neighbourhood’s main shopping & dining destination, Church Street. Not only are you within walking distance to many incredible restaurants, but you also just a step away from public transportation – there really is no need for a car living at this townhouse because everything you could possibly need is at your doorstep.

With a walk-score of 98, it’s a walker’s paradise – grocery, restaurants, fitness facilities, cafes and nightlife are all just around the corner. Delicious Sushi on your mind? Try Kintaro Izakaya. Looking for brunch? You’re literally around the corner from Smith, one of our Sunday favourites.

A Little NYC in Toronto

12 Monteith St really does remind us of a true New York City brownstone, complete with walk-up and stoop. At 2400+ square feet, the footprint is laid out incredibly well, and the remodel looks to be done with such care and consideration to creating a warm, charming home. Upon entering the home, you’re greeted by a staircase leading up to the second floor that is complemented by a beautiful black banister.

If you’re entertaining, the main floor offers plenty of space for guests. The fireplace is a stunner and really suites the main floor. It’s not too often you’ll have not only a formal living room but a spacious dining room for a formal sit-down dinner. We can just see a stunning dining table with wood and leather chairs, a centrepiece and champagne flowing next to a gourmet meal. The walk-out on the main floor means BBQing in the summer months is an opportunity not to be missed.

All four, yes FOUR bedrooms and bathrooms are done just the way we like them – clean and white with a few touches of luxury. Our favourite has to be the black and white wallpaper in one of the bathrooms. Oh, and we should mention that each bedroom includes its own bathroom, not just the master. Talk about convenience for a growing family! It’s going to be hard to say no to overnight guests when you’ve got this much space.

We also need to mention the incredible outdoor space on both the main level and the third floor – it’s your perfect little oasis to sip a glass of wine or enjoy your morning coffee. An added bonus is the totally finished basement, adding to your family living space. The basement would make a great play area for the kids, or dare we say it – a cocktail bar complete with a disco ball? Hmmm……

That Kitchen!

You had us at the black and white tiles. The kitchen in this home is absolutely the centrepiece and main focus of the entire place. We fell in love with the black and white tiles that are typically found in homes, but this townhouse got it right. Dark cabinets are so in right now, and the black uppers and lowers make the kitchen look straight out of a magazine shoot.

The giant window makes it look so light and airy, even though all the cabinets are black – it’s probably the only way they got away with it, and we’re glad they did. The range is something chefs dream about – dual ovens, 6 burners and a grill-top. What more could your range-dreams ask for? The hardware choices also make you wonder if it’s new or old – the perfect combination of not trying too hard, but knowing they absolutely did.

We’re certain the staging of 12 Monteith St makes it stand out so much, but we’re also not worried that anyone with the right vision could replicate this and truly make it feel like home.
