King West Building

Guides

The real estate market in Toronto surely isn’t slowing down, and in fact, both the condo and housing markets are on fire. With so many exciting neighbourhoods in downtown Toronto, buyers have a multitude of distinct areas to choose from. After living in King West for over 15 years, we’re consistently asked what’s it is like living in King West? Here are a few of our favourite things about King West and why we think it’s a great place to live, work, play and invest in.

King West’s Location

The King West corridor runs from Spadina Avenue to Sudbury Street along King Street West and is known as the SoHo of Toronto. It’s easily one of the most trendy, lively and vibrant neighbourhoods in Toronto, and filled with everyone from young professionals to families and empty-nesters who all want to be close to the action of downtown Toronto.

What we like most about living in King West is that you’re close enough to the action of downtown Toronto, but still have that community feel of a SoHo-like neighbourhood.

Dinner, Drinks & Dancing

King West offers some of the best restaurants in the GTA, and there are options for every taste and budget. There are also plenty of lounges, patios and nightclubs – surely something for all visitors and residents, regardless of what you’re feeling or in the mood for.

One of our favourite restaurants in King West has to be Patria – Spanish Tapas done so well you’ll be making another booking as you finish up your dinner. It’s that good. A few other notable fancy spots that are sure to make your wallet blush include Jacob & Co. Steakhouse, Weslodge and the ever-popular Lee Restaurant.

Looking for a great patio for people-watching? The Bier Markt has fantastic sun in the early part of the day and full shade in the afternoon. Belfast Love is a fantastic pub as is The Foggy Dew (or simply Foggy as us locals call it), further down King West.

If you’re looking for a party, look no further than Lavalle with its stunning rooftop, or there is always EFS where you’ll likely see a celeb or two partying in the back booths.

That King West Community Feeling

Still not convinced that living in King West could be for you? Well after living there for 15 years, we can say first hand, it really does have that community feeling. You’ll be living less than 5 minutes from Trinity Bellwoods Park, enjoy walking Fido down beautiful tree-lined streets or playing in dog-park hot-spot Stanley Park. You’ll also have direct access to the TTC. Fantastic schools are in the area for young families looking to move here, as is easy access to gyms, spin studios, spas and grocery stores.

King West Condos & Homes

With everything from detached single-family homes to semis, townhouses and condos, King West has plenty of selection of homes and condos for sale, regardless of where you’re at in your real estate portfolio. Here’s a rundown of some of our favourites:

1/

Pre-Construction Development: 543 Richmond

If you’re looking to get into the area through a pre-construction purchase, 543 Richmond is one of our absolute favorite pre-construction developments in Toronto that’s currently selling. The development is scheduled for completion in 2021, and suites range in size from 370 to 805 square feet. This development is perfect for young professionals looking to live at the heart of the action of downtown Toronto and experience some of the best live-work-play atmospheres in the country.

2/

Side-Street: Massey Street

What makes this such a great street is the tree-lined boulevard that looks amazing during all four seasons. Homes on this street range from semis to fully detached, and some that need work to those that are fully renovated. A little something for everyone.

Townhouse Development: Adelaide Street West Townhomes

We love this townhome development because it has a great location that’s further West on King Street. It’s also a pretty good-looking development that’s a street back from the major street, and it’s a great option for those looking for something that’s not a traditional high or mid-rise condo.

4/

Older Build Development: DNA 1

We have a personal connection to this building as it’s were we call home, but it’s got some amazing qualities that have kept us there for 15 years. The building is very well maintained, the residents are fantastic neighbours (super dog friendly too), and we love that it’s set back from King Street West. It also has some of the best terraces in the city with unobstructed views of the skyline and the lake. It’s also a great option for those looking to get into the area, as they have studio condos all the way up to three-bedroom options.

New Build Development: Musée @ 525 Adelaide

Musée is a new cosmopolitan condominium set amidst a civilized, tree-lined pocket off of Adelaide Street West. The new community is near the vibrant street scene and sophisticated elegance of King Street West and includes a fantastic gym and outdoor pool in its amenities. There is a great rooftop for BBQing and entertaining guests in the warmer months, and the location puts you within walking distance to many of the great spots that King West has to offer.
