Liberty Village is not only a great community in downtown Toronto, it’s where our office calls home. As a relatively new neighbourhood, it has many pros and cons, but one thing is certain, and that’s the positive vibe you feel walking around on a sunny afternoon.

With young professionals filling the community with an upbeat, active lifestyle, it’s no wonder Liberty Village is a top destination for many condo-hunters. Everything you could possibly need is at your doorstep, and here, we highlight the best, and some of our favourites.

Best Places to Eat in Liberty Village

If you’re planning to visit Liberty Village your first stop is likely going to be Local. It’s hands-down our favorite spot for everything from a quick work lunch to Saturday night drinks and everything in between.

If you have burgers on the brain, some of the best in all of Toronto can be found here. Trust us. We said it and we stand by it. Order up the Local Burger or our personal favourite, the Diablo Burger. Add a side of sweet potato fries and one of their featured taps and you’ll be smiling from ear to ear. Extra napkins, please.

If coffee is your thing, you must pop into Balzac. The space is beautifully restored and feels like a real coffee house. Grab a seat at one of the bar seats and settle in for an hour or two of work. It’s the perfect spot for a quick work meeting, and the coffee is second to none. The wintertime calls for a warming Citro Booster to help fight that cold you may be feeling, and we’ve also heard it’s pretty good for a hangover.

No Liberty Village feature would be complete without mentioning one of the best brunches in Toronto – Mildred’s Temple Kitchen. Get there early as the wait times can be pretty intense, but it’s well worth it. Not only do they make a killer Caesar, but you’ll have a hard time deciding on what to order as it’s all so good.

We recommend the Huevos Monty – a TRB favourite with black bean refritos & sharp cheddar cheese baked in tortillas & topped with two eggs sunny, fresh salsa, avocado smash & sour cream. But don’t stop there! If you’re feeling extra hungry, we suggest an order of table pancakes – Mrs. Biederhof’s Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes served with a wild blueberry compote, organic maple syrup & whipped cream. These fluffy piles of goodness are well worth the wait…and the calories.

Best Things to Do in Liberty Village

You’ll know when the TFC is in town just by the sea of red you’ll find in Liberty Village on any given game day. The patios at Brazen Head and Local will be overflowing as fans partake in some pre-game festivities, and the energy in the air is unmistakable. Games take place at BMO Field, just a short walk away from the center of Liberty Village.

One of the things we look forward to the most is the seasonal Farmer’s Market. The Liberty Village Farmer’s Market usually starts towards the end of May or early June and runs until the end of November.

We love seeing the familiar faces of the local vendors and returning week after week to explore the fresh picks from their fields, or homemade treats fresh from their ovens. Jams, pies, and bread can be found among the fresh-picked berries and vegetables, eggs, and other goodies to fill your table for the week.

Living in Liberty Village comes with many perks, but even if you’re just looking for a new neighbourhood to explore on the weekend, stop by the West end of the city to pay a visit and explore some of our favourite spots right in our very own community.
